Smyth An Islander

Not official, but Islanders have dealt former picks O'Marra, Nilsson, and this years first rounder for Smyth.

This puts the Islanders ahead of a lot of teams, and it doesnt matter where they finish in the top 8 because they're now contenders. More analysis coming shortly.

I like the addition of Smyth....but 3 top prospects for what will most likely be a rental?? I like it for the season, but losing those prospects is tough to swallow.

Not sure of how I feel about losing Ryan O Marra. I think that was a bit much.

Gotta tell ya, this deal was laid out during the bergeron deal earlier and believe me their plan here is to sign Ryan long-term. As for the cost of the trade. O'mara is good but nothing better than a 3rd liner which can be replaced for peanuts and Nilson will never play full time in the NHL. As for the draft pick, this years up coming draft is weak at best so you aren't givin' much up there. I see this as complete a positive for the Islanders. Don't be suprised Yashin is bought out if that option is still available and Blake will be resigned too. Life is good for Islanders fans!
