Trade Deadline News

Starting now, and up until the trade deadline is over, I will be helping cover the trades that go on. Please stay tuned for the latest news, and trades that are made.

Quick note on the Rivet trade: Montreal did aquire a number one draft pick, which certainly means that Montreal is not done dealing yet, and may be in pursuit of another "big" name player. Another good guess, is that with Rivet's contract no longer in Montreal, could be a sign that Montreal may try to sign Souray sooner rather than later.

I hope the isles can get someone like Svatos or Guerin by the deadline if they have to give up Blake.

Guerin? Why would we want a slower, equally as old player in return. My bet is that he's staying and he'll get a two year deal.

Guerin - too old, let rangers have him...
Nilsson - too young for 1st line.

Resolution: sign Blake (3+1 yr), unless theres something btween him and Nolan or trade Jason for equally quick-hand euro player...

5 Western Conf teams interested in Blake... maybe he leaves now (trade) and comes back in the summer - like Recchi or Doug Weight... wouldn't want as many picks as Atlanta got for Tkachuk - more interested in two top prospects (2-3 years ahead of this draft class)... heard San Jose's farm is stacked - maybe one forward and one D... of course, the best move might just be getting Yashin back and have him and Blake rip it up like they did for the first 25 games of the year...
